You have questions...

We have answers!

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions patients have about their vision and general eye health issues. If you have any other questions, or would like to schedule an appointment, we would love to hear from you.

Eye exams are recommended at different intervals depending on age and individual risk factors. During the first three years, a child’s vision should be checked during regular pediatric visits. Between ages 3 and 6, when eye development is especially important, exams should be scheduled every 1–2 years. From childhood through adulthood, exams should be scheduled as recommended by your eye care professional.

Adults should have at least one eye exam during their 20s and at least two during their 30s. During the 40s, 50s, and early 60s, an exam every 2–4 years is recommended. Seniors should have an eye exam every 1–2 years.

People with a family history of eye disease, a diagnosed eye condition, or certain high-risk conditions such as diabetes should have an eye exam at least once a year. Regular eye exams are an important part of maintaining healthy vision.

Any unusual changes or abnormalities in your vision can have many possible causes. Because early treatment is often important in preventing vision loss, you should consult an ophthalmologist if you notice anything unusual or experience a change in your vision. While the cause may be harmless, having it evaluated can provide peace of mind and help identify potentially serious problems early.

Yes. Many serious eye diseases can develop with little or no noticeable symptoms until they are more advanced. Regular eye exams are the best way to detect these problems early, when treatment may be most effective, and help preserve clear vision for life.

LASIK can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses for people with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. However, LASIK is not appropriate for everyone. Factors such as age, medical history, eye anatomy, and individual expectations all play a role in determining whether you are a good candidate.

The only way to know if LASIK is right for you is through a LASIK eligibility exam. During the exam, your doctor will review your medical history, perform a comprehensive eye examination, and conduct specialized tests to evaluate your eyes. You will also discuss the procedure, recovery, and expected results. Based on these findings, your doctor can help determine whether LASIK is an appropriate option for you.

Like any surgery, LASIK carries some risks, but serious complications are extremely rare. Minor side effects, such as dry eyes, halos, or glare around lights at night, can occasionally occur. These issues are often treatable and typically improve or disappear within a few months after surgery.

Your eye doctor can discuss the potential risks and benefits of LASIK with you and help determine whether it is an appropriate option for your eyes.

LASIK is generally not painful because numbing eye drops are used to anesthetize the cornea before the procedure. Some patients may experience mild pressure or discomfort during the surgery. Afterward, minor irritation or discomfort may occur, but it typically improves within a day or two.

No. While many people achieve 20/20 vision or better after LASIK, results vary from person to person. Some patients may still need corrective lenses for certain activities, although their prescription is often significantly reduced.

The outcome can depend on the amount of vision correction needed before surgery. People with prescriptions closer to 20/20 generally have a higher likelihood of no longer needing glasses or contacts, while those with stronger prescriptions, particularly severe nearsightedness, may still need corrective lenses after LASIK.

We cannot recommend this ophthalmology clinic highly enough. From the moment we walked in, every staff member was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. We always feel listened to, and everything is explained clearly. We would especially like to thank Dr. B and Dr. Caroline for their professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail. They always take the time to answer our questions and make us feel comfortable. What’s more, many of the staff speak Polish. As Polish immigrants, Polish is our preferred language, and being able to communicate so easily about our eye health has made every visit much less stressful. Thank you to the whole team for the exceptional care you provide. We are truly appreciative and would happily recommend this clinic to anyone.

Great place to get your eye care. Experienced staff and doctors. Despite some complaints online about being strict with referral requirements, this is a rare practice that accepts insurances most other offices reject.
